Charles Berger, Age 91, passed away on November 24, 2025, in Manchester, Connecticut, after struggling for many years with Parkinson’s disease. Charles was the beloved husband of Judith Berger, from 1956 till her death in 2012. He was born in 1934 in Albany, New York, to Helen Berger (née Gould) and Charles Berger, who died before he was born.
He attended Sienna College, graduating with a degree in finance. In the early years of their married life, Charles and Judith moved frequently while he served in the military and worked for W.T. Grant’s Department Stores, eventually settling in Manchester in 1966, where he was a member of Temple Beth Shalom (later renamed Congregation Beth Shalom B’nai Israel).
From 1966 till his retirement in the early 1990s, Charles was employed by Ames Department Stores, where he pursued a business career. Throughout his life, he enjoyed sports, cooking, walking, and drawing and was an active member of the local havurah group.
After his wife’s passing, he delighted in the love of his girlfriend and partner, Paula Finkelstein. In addition to Paula, he is survived by his daughter Alexa Murphy, his son Harris M. Berger and his wife Giovanna P. Del Negro, his cherished grandchildren (Ella Giuliana Berger, Simone Frances Berger, Casey Murphy, and Cora Murphy), his great granddaughter Olivia, his sister-in-law Lynne Nisoff, his niece Jennifer Nisoff, her husband Scott Peterson, and their daughter Madelyn Peterson. He is predeceased by his wife Judith.
