Charlotte R. Renfroe, of San Antonio, TX died in her daughters loving care in West Hartford, CT at the age of 94. Born October 11, 1929 in Chicago, IL she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Elizabeth "Stoper" Weinberg. She will be remembered for her bitting wit and deep tenderness, which came hand in hand.
Charlotte spent most of her lifetime in San Antonio, TX. Not a lover of mexican food or the culture as her family came to be, but of the warm weather and the comfortable friendly way of life in San Antonio. She was proud of the gift card shop she had in Wonderland Mall, back when indoor shopping malls were new, and this one was Air Conditioned too. She worked for many years as an office manager in a dental office and made very sure that her grandchildren got their teeth cleaned on every visit to see her. In her retirement she took up volunteer work to fill her days. First as an usher at the Majestic Theater. She loved the amazing architecture as much as she enjoyed watching the plays for free, and would always have a seat for grandson when he would visit. She also volunteered for the public schools as a tutor, mostly in reading and was honored by the district for thirty years of service.
Charlotte had many friends but a few that were life long friends. Elwood Schubert, with whom she would start each day with as they did the puzzles in the newspaper together. Woody, whom her grandchildren called grandpa was as much a life partner as a friend. The number of joys and sad occasions they spent together were too many to count. Donna Bamberger and Charlotte were friends from the time their children were young until Donna's death. Their outings together were always important to her.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce (Kit) Blumenstein; grandson Glenn Blumenstein and his wife Tiffany and their three children, Levi, Elijah and Aliyah. Charlotte was preceded in death by her daughter Lynn Renfroe; granddaughter Amber Blumenstein; beloved son in law who could somehow do no wrong Robert Blumenstein; and her dear life long friends Elwood Schubert and Donna Bamburger.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in Charlotte's memory can be made to the Majestic Theater
