Kenneth M. Spector

October 25, 1947 — September 26, 2021

Kenneth M. Spector, 73, of Manchester, CT passed away on September 26, 2021 after a long and valiant struggle with heart, lung, and kidney disease. Ken was born on October 25, 1947 to Leah and Norman Spector and was the loving husband of Myrna Wyman Spector for one month shy of 50 years. Ken grew up in Manchester, attending Washington School, Bennett Junior High, and Manchester High School. He was a graduate of Nichols College. He spent much of his youth at Normans, his fathers furniture and appliance store on Hartford Rd., just behind the family home on Cooper Hill Street. He was a lifelong member of Temple Beth Sholom in Manchester, now Congregation Beth Sholom Bnai Israel and served on its board of directors for several years. Ken served in the Air National Guard, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Sphinx Temple Shrine and was proud of the time he devoted to the Shrine Circus in Hartford, often allowing his sons and their friends to play hooky from school to help. Ken founded Allied Protective Alarm and successfully ran his business for 52 years. He is remembered for his competent and fair business practices and was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and generosity. Some of his happiest days were spent aboard the familys boat, The Farmers Daughter. Ken and Myrna later spent much of their time at their home in Charlestown, RI. He was a devoted father to Norman (Octavia) of South Kingstown, RI and Michael Spector of Wilson, WY, and the proud grandfather of Calvin and Max. He also leaves his brother and sister-in-law Dr. William and Rachel Spector of Manchester, brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Joyce Wyman, Suzanne Wyman and Arthur and Diane Wyman, all of Massachusetts and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Berdine Spector Stoltz, his mother and father-in-law Saul and Sarah Wyman, and brother-in-law Robert Wyman. Kens family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for him, especially his devoted brother, Dr. William Spector, Dr. Jeffrey Laut and his wonderful crew including Maria, Kelly, Sina and Heather, Dr. Ahmad Elwan, Dr. Eric Shore and the caring staff of Hartford Hospital and the Glastonbury Health Center. The funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to Congregation Beth Sholom Bnai Israel, or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
