Linda Bland Sonnenblick, age 89, died peacefully at the home she shared with her beloved, long-term partner, Henry M. Zachs, in Farmington, CT. She is the widow of the late distinguished cardiologist and physician-scientist Edmund H. Sonnenblick, to whom she was married for 53 years. She was born in Hartford to the late Chester and Shirley Bland and spent most of her life in West Hartford, Darien, and Farmington. Linda was a graduate of The Oxford School and Boston University and an active member of the Noroton Yacht Club, The New York Yacht Club, The Town and County Club, and the Tumblebrook Country Club. She was a longtime supporter of The Wadsworth Atheneum, The Long Wharf Theatre, and Wesleyan University. Linda was an avid supporter of the Jewish Federation of Hartford, as well as a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El of New York and Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, travel, and sailing with her family over a long, fruitful life. She will be remembered for her devotion to her loving family, fine taste and style, sense of humor, resiliency, and as an intrepid voyager on land and at sea. Along with her cherished partner, Henry M. Zachs, she is survived by two daughters, Dr. Emily Sonnenblick and her husband Dr. Kenneth Offit, and Charlotte Van Doren and her husband Adam, of New York City; five grandchildren, Anna Offit and her husband Kelly McKowen, Caroline Offit and her husband Peter Senzamici, Lily Offit and her husband Ben Denzer, Abbott Van Doren, and Henry Van Doren. Linda also leaves three great-grandchildren, Edmund McKowen-Offit, Oscar McKowen-Offit, Aviva Senzamici, and sister Deborah Albert. She was predeceased by her daughter, Annie. Donations in her memory may be made to The Edmund and Linda Sonnenblick Charitable Fund at The Jewish Community Foundation of West Hartford, 333 Bloomfield Avenue, W. Hartford, CT. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Westchester Hills Cemetery in Hastings-On-Hudson, New York. Shiva will be held at Linda and Henrys home on Wednesday, January 10, from 3:00-8:00 pm, with Maariv at 6:00 pm.
