Martin Jay Axelrod died on January 28, 2024, at home in the arms of his wife, Natalie. They were married on June 19, 1982, and resided in Enola, Pennsylvania. A lifelong rail fan, Martin shared his encyclopedic knowledge of trains with friends and the Harrisburg Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. After graduating from UConn in 1969, he worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years. After retiring, he became a celebrated volunteer at the Enola Public Library. People liked him, and he had a good heart. He loved trains, cars, maps, history, and music. He had a remarkable memory. He honored his Jewish faith and his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by his siblings Ray Axelrod of Willimantic; Shirli Axelrod (brother-in-law Mike Seamans) of Seattle, WA; Ed Axelrod of Knoxville, TN, and niece Abby Axelrod of Nashville, TN. Martin is much loved and missed. The burial is at the Hebron Columbia Cemetery at 227 Stafford Road, Mansfield, Connecticut 06250. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Harris Tower and Museum, Harrisburg Chapter, National Railway Historical Society, 637 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101.
