Ellen Carol (Eliasoff) Kloehn

Ellen Carol (Eliasoff) Kloehn, 74, of Manchester, CT, died suddenly on February 1st 2021. This is a significant and unexpected loss for her family and for everyone that she knew. Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Rockaway Beach, New York she went on to graduate from Bryn Mawr College and received her MSW from the University of Wisconsin. Becoming a clinical social worker at the Community Child Guidance Clinic in Manchester, Connecticut and at Windsor Locks High School where she was also a Spanish tutor and substitute teacher which she enjoyed very much. Ellen was humble about her many personal achievements which included being a Fulbright Scholar in Venezuela and participating in American Friends Service in Mexico. She was an experienced quilter, an avid Mah Jongg player and a patient orchid grower. Ellen loved life and lived it to her fullest, especially enjoying the peaceful and quiet summers at her family’s cottage on Lake Ontario. She was also a dedicated and loyal member of Families Anonymous and attended their meetings regularly.  A lifelong dedication to public service and community was a trait proudly carried from her parents; mother Sylvia Roth, a chemistry teacher, and her father Manus Eliasoff, a lawyer. Ellen will be missed by her family, friends and many students who will always remember her quick wit, hilarious puns and clever sense of humor. 

Ellen is survived by her beloved husband Edward; children, Eddie Kloehn and his partner Lourdes, Ethan Kloehn and partner Jennifer Hayes, Eric and his wife Nicole; beloved grandchildren Mateo, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Emiliano and Anthony; sisters Amy and Linda Eliasoff; nephews and niece Omer, Rya and Moni of Israel and their children, whom she adored.
