Mark Fierberg Obituary

Mark Edward Fierberg passed away on November 4, 2023. A resident of West Hartford, Connecticut, for his entire life, Mark was born on August 10, 1957. He lived a vibrant life of 66 years, marked by kindness, humor, and intelligence.

Mark was the cherished son of the late Jed Fierberg and Ruth Rubenstein Fierberg. He was the loving brother to Eliot Fierberg and sister-in-law Randie Fierberg. Mark held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, Ruthie, Joseph, and Emma Fierberg, who brought him immense joy and pride. His life was enriched by his family's love, and he in return was a pillar of caring and thoughtfulness for them.

His thirst for knowledge led him to Georgia Tech, where he pursued a degree in building construction. This laid the foundation for a successful career as an engineer and as a recognized expert in building construction. He was well-respected by his colleagues and peers for his in-depth knowledge and innovative approach.

Mark was an ardent music enthusiast, constantly attending concerts of his favorite bands and artists, including Grateful Dead, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and Tom Petty. His passion for music extended to playing the guitar, a hobby that brought him immense joy and relaxation.

A gifted baker, Mark always brought his culinary creations to every holiday, birthday and just-because gathering. He loved yoga and competitive sports — nothing made him happier than cheering on a win by the Green Bay Packers, UCONN Huskies and Georgia Tech Yellowjackets.

One of the most endearing aspects of Mark's life was his deep affection for his nieces and nephews. He took great pleasure in watching them perform on various stages, a testament to his unwavering support and devotion to them. His pride in their achievements was evident in his signature laugh and encouraging words.

Mark's kind heart touched so many, his sense of humor brought joy to even mundane moments. He possessed a rare intelligence that, combined with his role as a gifted listener, rendered him a singular font of knowledge.

Mark Edward Fierberg's passing is a significant loss to his family, friends, and the community he served with dedication and care.
