William Mancoll, M.D., died Friday, January 27, 2023. 5 Shevat, 5783.
Dr. Mancoll was born in Hartford, CT, to Dr. Morris and Edith Mellamed Mancoll; and lived his entire life in West Hartford. He was a graduate of Loomis, Cornell University, and Jefferson Medical College. He interned at Hartford Hospital, and completed his residency at Johns Hopkins. When he retired in 1998, he was Chief of Otolaryngology at Hartford Hospital.
Bill was known for his great kindness and exceptional intelligence. His family and friends cherished his great modesty, wonderful sense of humor, and extreme generosity. He enjoyed golf, bridge, and reading with his warm circle of friends.
Dr. Mancoll is survived by his wife, Anita, daughters, Rebecca Mancoll and her husband Nick Petesch, Rachel Stam and her husband Wendell, and son, Peter Mancoll and his wife Sarah. He leaves four grandchildren, Benjamin Stam and Samuel, Maayan, and Abraham Mancoll.
Bill was predeceased by his twin brother Harry and is survived by his sisters Tovia Siegel and Isadora Safner.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon, on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, CT. Burial will follow at Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery in Wethersfield. Memorial donations in Bill’s memory can be made to PETA or to the animal shelter of the donor’s choice or to the Edith and Morris Mancoll Endowment Fund at the Emanuel Synagogue.
